You know ive grown sick of these fucking fact charts, obviously they are designed to show one side of an argument. (On a side note Tally you seem to hate America which is fine, im on board. Just dont visit, dont come and enjoy our country. Stay the fuck home, however if you have never been here, then shut the fuck up about it) Now if you want to see both sides, show the stats on the reduction on home invasions, reductions in car jackings, the number of people saved by owning guns. Our country isnt perfect, nobody ever said it was, we have problems, but our population isnt hijacking ships, its not flying planes into buildings, we are busy protecting half of this fucking planet while a majority of countries sit back and do nothing. So just be fair or go fuck yourself. And Tally you seem like a huge douche.

Did you guys happen to notice all bad grammar? I don't trust FACTS from someone who uses THEN in the plane of THAN when stating "Then an unarmed civilian?" WTF?
      • deleted | 2 years ago | +1
*the bad grammar... Oh, and civilian was misspelled as well. LOL..
    • chubbydick | 3 years ago | +3 -4
There is no statistics to show reduction in home invasions or car jackings. It is a flawed premise. You are saying that the would be criminal have advanced knowledge about houses or owners with guns. Furthermore you are saying that they have enough time to retrieve the gun and make sure it is operable BEFORE a crime is even committed. So the moment a person walks onto the property they displayed their gun to thwart the criminals? Sorry man but it seems like you are the one with an agenda.

A little late, but your comment was so insignificant, pop by my house about 330 in the morning and see if I don't have my gun ready for your visit. my only agenda will be introducing you to my Sig Sauer P 226

I love America and lived in CO for 6mth, my only problem was stupid people owning handguns who never listened to the facts! The main reason I put this here was to show the facts... If I'm wrong do your own post to prove these facts WRONG!

        • secretsquirrel | 3 years ago | +3 -3
These videos are INCREDIBLY stupid and one-sided. Who the hell would even find this shit persuasive? Both sides are clearly written by a conservative; the liberal arguments don't even seem to adhere to reality. "If a liberal says something is true, it becomes science." What the fuck? Really?
          • Alighieri | 3 years ago | +2
"if guy A says its true, guy B says its false, and so the bullshit continues" you cannot make any judgement until you got all the facts, and i tend not to give a shit at all, it works really well =D
      • deleted | 3 years ago | +3 -1
Facts! Here you go fuckface, read these stats from 2004/2005
        • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +2 -1
So that showed that using a gun to stop a gun crime works.. But if handguns were reduced there would be less gun crime? So this doesn't defend anything as if there was better gun control then those situations wouldnt have arisen?
          • deleted | 3 years ago | +4
You're an even bigger idiot than my ex-wife and I didn't think that was possible. I'm finished speaking to you about this. You go and collect all the guns from the criminals, and when ALL the criminals are gun free, i'll turn over my guns, until then please stfu you're an idiot.
            • dirtyphil | 3 years ago | +8
Criminals already aren't supposed to have guns so gun control laws really only apply to law abiding citizens, which only help out criminals. Yay intelligent lawmakers.
              • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -1
For a while until guns are too hard to get hold of by anyone! Look at it this way serious organised gangsters will always have guns, but rarley does that affect the general population - opportunistic theft, burglary or a a drunk angry dude are generally the people who we should be worried about, in this level guns can be allot harder to get hold of if the number of handguns was decreased
                • deleted | 3 years ago | +3
do you have any idea how easy it is for some one to manufacture a firearm? all you need for a good room sweeper is a length of pipe and a drill press. in countries with heavy gun laws homemade firearms are some of the most common.
                  • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Exactly,a tube and something to strike the primer with..Then people go from having SAFE guns,to home made crap that's low quality and unsafe...
                • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
People get killed by every day organized crimes..Thats the problem you fool...These people will always get guns, most of which have gotten them illegaly ALREADY..Can common street gangs not be organzied crime?.. Can only two criminals not be "organized" if they are about to take part in criminal activity?..All crime effects this country...Especially the drug trade from Mexico, effecting border states like AZ and TX,which includes violent illegals belonging to drug cartels.....Where did you go to get an education?..Please say Hogwarts...
                  • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -1
Least I have an education! It has worked in so many other countries why do you find this so hard to understand?!?
                    • deleted | 3 years ago | +2
what countries? every report i have ever read has shown that just after banning guns the crime rate skyrockets in those places. it happened in england and australia.
                      • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -1
I live in England so I know it here and reading on Australian gun laws since 91 when gun laws started to be gradually introduced gun time has dropped 47%!! But I found this quote by the Australian government which said allot - The American National Rifle Association claimed in 2000 that violent crimes had increased in Australia since the introduction of new laws, based on highly unrepresentative statistics from newspaper articles. The Federal Attorney General Daryl Williams accused the NRA of falsifying government statistics and urged the NRA to "remove any reference to Australia" from its website
                        • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
dropped compared to what? per capita? or per handguns left in civilian hands? and yes it matters. the volume of guns does matter, if the number of weapons available decreases of course crimes with them will likely decrease per capita, but if they were honest about the numbers they would give the crime levels compared to guns still owned or in circulation.
                          • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
They fix the numbers to make their gun stealing law seem like it play's into the people's favor..
                            • CaptainFlyscratch | 3 years ago | +3
that is not true IV. We've had this argument before and the census numbersn were used....not generalised or adapted stats in reports.
                            • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
Yea all the countries who's gun from has gone down due to gun control is faked stats to deceive the public? Geese better put my tin hat back on!... Or wait could it be the gun manufacturers as stated in the above quote by the Australian government? Hmmmm I wonder who has the most to lose?..
                          • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
How can they put a number on that? My dad owns a ww2 Luger but as its not been used and isn't registered no one knows! As more registered guns are destroyed Un registered guns that are being USED become easier to track! Plus with less available guns to choose from gradually unlicensed guns stop working or are seized! The general scum who will use a gun will get their house raded for drugs etc and then they are seized. It takes time but it's already showing an improvement!
                            • Randy1 | 3 years ago | +1
"My dad owns a ww2 Luger but as its not been used and isn't registered no one knows!" Isn't that illegal?

TallyHo - they are trying that shit here in SA= please watch the space - here the Gov. has asked for all firearms to be handed in
-re-apply for firearm licence and all = i maybe arrested for "un-lawful" possession of a firearm = but fuck anyone whom even thinks of taking it from me
            • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -2
Mate it doesn't happen overnight, in the Uk we are only now seeing the affects and handgun use was banned in 96! Gradually it's harder to get hold of handguns for both sides which in a decade or so so the country will see the benefit.. Take Australia, Canada or the Netherlands as an example.. Eventually because it's only the bad guys who have guns when they are used they are easier to track! I'm not saying your wrong by keeping your gun as my father still has an old Luger but because they are less readily available people are more wary of using them!
              • deleted | 3 years ago | +7 -1
Tally ho I hate to say this because I like most of what you say. are you saying lets stop guns in america and wait 15 years and see if it gets better? I hope not.. Fuck that shit they can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.. If you outlaw guns only the outlaws will have them.. and that is BAD

                • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +2
No obviously that isn't how it should work as your right that's what would happen, it would have to be gradual... I think in the uk we started to ban types of guns in the 30's ending up with an all out ban on possession of handguns in 96 after the dunblane massacre.. But everyone is better off for it now it just takes time and sensible thinking! Be gentle with me bro I only brought this us as a great debate I'm not out waving flags, we still cool?
                  • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
of course we cool LOL Anytime you want to shoot come to my place.. you are more than welcome to take a few for a test drive!!
              • friendlygarfield | 3 years ago | +2
TallyHo - you seem to believe that the "cowboy" era is still relevant today= i honestly do not believe that there are humans going around just itching to shoot another
i see my firearm in a similar light to the jack and spare wheel in my car - hope i never need to use it but fuck it - i will never do without because i will end up fucked /dead

where you may find alot more agreement - is that all firearms need to be licensed and firearms owners need to have proper training for them - not only shooting ,but cleaning ,storage etc etc

from what i read - it sounds as if in certain places ,one may "store" the firearm in a car ? IMO firearms should be in only two places - on your body (holster or hand) or in a safe = here in SA (in past more than now ) daddy would leave pistol under pillow and little Jnr would find it and play cowboys and crooks = dead sister or ....
                • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
And from what you have posted and from previous posts I have seen from you I would assume your the kind of guy who would be safe with a gun. The issues comes when idiots outweigh sensible people, that's when innocent people get killed! Unfortunatly you will see in this post some people think the wild west is still yet to be won..
                  • deleted | 3 years ago | +2
Anyone who doesn't call you out must be safe..?..I am dangerous with a gun because I was trained by the military, and called you out for being an idiot?..Way to go you stupid SOB...You're brain must be as big as a tick's nutsack..
                  • friendlygarfield | 3 years ago | +1
Tallyho - i may be replying at the wrong comment line :-(   sowi
from your reasoning i will assume once all firearms are removed from society - you may enforce laws like - remove all vehicles - because of the amount of deaths caused by these - or is it just "drive on the pavement/sidewalk " to avoid road deaths ?
firearms are deadly - well that is what they are invented to do - how many other inventions are deadly ? invented for death and yet without limitation ? here in SA to get a BB gun - i need to go through all the Gun laws to get one but can walk into another shop and get a fucking powerful crossbow/Samurai sword and many other deadly weapons as if i buy candy
please do not try reason that crossbows /swords was not invented for death
                    • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
Obviously crossbows are but I'm not talking about all guns just handguns which are the ones generally used for crime because their ease of concealment. They have no real other purpose which another gun (a rifle or shotgun) could do other then to kill! Cars are not built to kill! This doesn't need to go behind handguns and it never would.
                      • deleted | 3 years ago | +1 -1
See,you're stupid ass is still ignorant to facts...Bad car driver equals deaths..Bad gun owner equals death..More people are killed by cars than guns..You can't dispute that..
                        • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
All I see is your an idiot who can't read again, cars main purpose is to transport people handguns main purpose is to kill! You are amazingly stupid, read things first jerk
                          • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
That's like saying condoms are meant to kill babies..But you're to stupid to understand that..
                            • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
So what do handguns do that rifles and shotguns can't? That's right.. Nothing meaning they have no other use then to be easily consealable and used to kill people!!
                              • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Handguns are more challenging to shoot, easier to carry in the woods, cheaper to shoot, and yes, kill an attacker...Being a cop you know very little about guns you moron..
                • deleted | 3 years ago | +1 -1
Exactly...This moron thinks eveyone who owns a gun is out to kill someone with it who might stare at them the wrong way..He has shit for brains dude..He is never gonna admit he is a dumbass..
        • chubbydick | 3 years ago | +1
You take your statistics that support your agenda while dismissing the rest. You are no different then Tallyho. Further more your facts state that states that passed concealed carry laws saw major crime statistics drop. Greater eveidence supports that a strong economy and social equality goes further in reducing crimes.
      • friendlygarfield | 3 years ago | +2 -1
TallyHo - you argument sounds silly "If I'm wrong do your own post to prove these facts WRONG!"
if i state that all people from UK are green-skinned (only an example)
is it for you to prove me wrong or me to prove me right ?
IMO - i would need to try prove this - not expect someone to prove me wrong
another point - if your stats are from 1993 (9 year old ) surly it does not take a under-water helicopter pilot to understand these to be too old ?
from your words - my best advice to YOU - stay without a firearm
        • Tboner | 3 years ago | +4
Its 2012 FG, so 19 years old. lol
        • 2ndhandsmoker | 3 years ago | +2
How do I become an under-water helicopter pilot? I've been wasting my time being an in flight missile repair specialist.
        • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -1
Thats just the Wikipedia site all the others are more up to date, I'm not here to prove anything just start a nice healthy debate as I have been conversing with a member on here lately who doesn't understand facts... If anything this has worked as some people have got their nickers in a twist over an image post! It's like Mohammed with a bomb turban all over! I put it in H6 to see people's opinions and they go mad!
          • deleted | 3 years ago | +3 -2
BAHAHAHAHAHA I love seeing so many people call you a fucking idiot dude...This site is filled with mostly Americann members..WTF did your stupid ass expect...?..You're stupid as fuck dude just admit it..You're not gonna make Americans hate guns..You're not gonna convince us they need taken away..
            • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
No the majority of Americans can be trusted with a gun, people like you however cannot! But I'll make this clear as you have a problem reading - owning a gun means you are more likely to die or kill an innocent person then you are to use it to defend yourself! This post was for the innocent people and to start a nice friendly debate!
              • Dirkg | 3 years ago | +3
Not owning a gun makes it FAR more likely that you will be unable to defend yourself if you are the intended victim of a violent crime.
              • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Owning a car means you're more likely to die in a car accident...Skydiving 5 times a years means you're likely to die than someone who doesn't..The list could go on and on...What you don't seem to understand is accidents happen, and criminals like guns...If someone knows how to handle a gun,and isn't a criminal, your stupid ass has no reason to say they shuldn't be allowed to own a gun...We're not brainwashed like you idiots..The government does have gun bans in places...And guess what, they are some of the most VIOLENT places in the U.S. you moron...Including high numbers of shootings...The black market is already too big to contain...
      • deleted | 3 years ago | +3 -3
You're missing my point, not a surprise there, these charts are probably accurate, but they are just propaganda. They only tell one side of the story, and when you only provide 1/2 the facts, you come across as a huge fucking douche. See I love our law enforcement agencies in this country, are there problems? Sure there are, however, if someone is breaking into my house, and I call them they aren't miracle workers, they can't be here instantly. However my Sig P-226 can and will be. See I would rather make an effort to protect my family then hide behind an ideal that does nothing to protect me immediately.
        • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +4 -2
That same gun is more likely to kill you or your family members then to be used in defence.. That's fact! Why be angry at me man, I'm giving you an opertunity to prove me wrong! (hence why in ask H6)
          • dirtyphil | 3 years ago | +8
Police carry guns to protect themselves while they investigate your death, not to protect you. That chick from Ok that killed the intruder to protect her family is wrong for owning a gun in your opinion? She was on the phone for 20 minutes with the cops and without her 2nd amendment rights, they would've just been able to try to find out how her and her baby ended up in pieces.

          • Stevarooni | 3 years ago | +2
No, TallyHo, that's not a fact.  A gun is more likely to kill you than to kill an attacker, but killing someone is not the only way to defensively use a gun.  Stats are low for "guns used in self-defense" where there are no shots fired simply because people don't report those brief encounters.

Looking at your profile, I see you're from Cambridge which isn't exactly somewhere i'd feel on edge. Perhaps if you'd have lived in somewhere like London where gangs, stabbings and robberies are rife, you'd change your tune.
      • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
That would be true but I commute to tower hamlets so I see both sides
        • FeralGuy | 3 years ago | +1
You need to live in these parts to fully see the shit the goes on; I live in Hackney which is just down the road from TH. I wouldn't be so quick to defend the Americans second amendment if the authorities were an actual deterrent, but it seems that the criminals that are bred today are becoming increasingly prevalent because of our lax liberal views expressed in our governments both here and over there.
          • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -1
Gun laws have always been a conservative policy not liberal, also in the uk the highest year for gun crime for a while was 07 but has gone down again, and far below that of SA or the US which I'm glad for!

Here in the US, gun control is definetly a liberal agenda. The states with the lowest crime rates are the ones with the easiest access to guns by the citizens with that right. Highest crime rates: New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Detroit. what do those cities have in common? If the answer is restrictive gun laws, you get a cigar.
              • wardt3 | 1 year ago | +1
You left out St. Louis, Memphis, Atlanta, and Miami. They are also in the top 10 for violent crimes, but those states have very few gun restrictions. FYI, NY ranks about 30th in the US for its violent crime rate. I think you need to re-check your "facts."

If you were planning on robbing someone, would you try to rob someone you knew was armed, or someone you knew wasnt?
              • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +2 -1
If I was planning on robbing somone and guns wernt as readily available as they are in the US I wouldn't have a gun to rob them with!
                • Stevarooni | 3 years ago | +3
Ah, because, being the law-abiding robber that you are, you wouldn't be able to get guns? :D
                • piddler | 2 years ago | +1
your right, cause if you were a robber, you wouldn't find an illegal gun to carry. makes perfect sense.
                  • TallyHo | 2 years ago | +1
If there were less guns then it would be harder to get one ... How is that hard?
                    • piddler | 2 years ago | +1
Drugs are illegal, they don't seem to be on the decline any bit.

So you keep saying but as I KEEP replying you have less chance of being killed by those so your argument has no point

I have a full Firearms Cert and i own shot guns and rifles. I work all over the UK but have never felt the need to carry a gun. Even when working in places like London, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Bidgwater, Isle of Scilly never felt the need to be 'packing heat'.
              • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1 -2
Exactly guns are now what they should be, tools! I also own a shotgun and some rifles (due to inheritance) but handguns have no real purpose as these stats show, other then to be a dick extension for some people who hide behind an outdated piece of paper! If Washington etc new how many police and innocents would get killed by them I doubt they would have signed it!
                • deleted | 3 years ago | +3
That piece of paper is what seperates us you from you fucks and your worthless "government"...I use pistols for quite a lot,and none of which is criminal..How is your head so far up your ass that you believe people shouldn't partake in one of the oldest pastimes just because you're a pussy cop who is scared of getting shot?...Why should you feel you have the right to tell others they can't do something just because you don't?..Target shooting isn't illegal, and it's fun..Washington does know that information you useless retard...You fail to mention why we shouldn't ban knives then, since people die from stab wounds as well?...You can bitch all your pussy, ignorant ass wants too..The good news is,you're a nobody and you will change nothing here in the U.S...Especially not the Constitution....HAHAHAHAH..Fucking tool...

I have repeadidly said I'm not here to change anything just start a debate because people like you can't face facts! (i lived in Colorado remember) the Magna Carta was signed in England in 1296 and power was transfered to the people and ever since then we have been in charge of our own country! However one thing that difienciates our piece of paper from yours is ours evolved with the times! When your ammendment was signed people had muskets and cannons and had a chance of being invaded! HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO! And yes knifes kill (allot less) people but there has NEVER been a cop in my county who has died from one! And the only place it occasionally happens is in about 4/5 city's!
                    • ABIPUP | 3 years ago | +3
A word about the Magna Carta. Do you think it would have been possible for the barons to force King John to sign the document if they didn't have weapons? Bringing this up to modern times, do you think the general population could overthrow a corrupt government without guns?

sorry i didn't see it. i've met a bunch of canadians mainly material suppliers and i never get off the phone without being told how guns are evil and america follows along with that example and how the great white north is uber peaceful. i never say anything for fear of my stuff arriving broken or wrong. so again sorry for the miss.
          • ill_sane | 3 years ago | +2
The "Great White North" isnt uber peaceful, but we also dont encourage senseless violence. Maybe my community is unique, but we tend to look down on stupid people who commit crime and cause issues for themselves and everyone else. People still have a difference of opinion and argue, fight, threaten . . . The difference is, the only people here who shoot each other out of spite / hate are immigrant gangs or drug addicts; which is about as aggravating as a pimple on the tip of your dick.
            • Festezio | 3 years ago | +1
Exactly, in my community it's Asians stabbing everyone, Somalians shooting Somalians, and natives drinking Lysol which leads to petty crimes.

I don't care what the stats are. I act responsibility with my guns and good luck taking them away from me. I've been competent with a firearm since about 8 years old, have more guns than people in my home .... just an average American
  • felix78 | 3 years ago | +5
I live in Australia and we have some of the toughest gun laws in the world. I know that a serious career criminal (ie: a bank robber) can still obtain a gun, but it makes me feel better knowing that some random junkie that needs money for a fix is highly unlikely to pull out a gun and shoot me for my wallet whether in the street or in my home. It also gives me a sporting chance of defending myself physically. If somebody doesn't like the laws or policies in their country (in this case regarding guns) they are free (in Western countries at least) to move to another country. Millions of people emigrate to other countries yearly because of government laws and policies. Just my two cents.
    • Stevarooni | 3 years ago | +2
Australian gun laws are pretty restrictive compared with many countries, but hardly the worst.  The Worldwide Gun Owner's Guide (GunLaws.com ) lists y'all as 21st most-free in the world.  It's expensive, invasive, takes a ton of time, and will only allow you certain firearms, but most law-abiding Australians can own guns (if their local cops aren't being dicks).
      • CaptainFlyscratch | 3 years ago | +1
I have 3 guns, but I keep my handgun at the gun club....I am personally glad of the difficulty around acquiring and possessing a firearm....it does prevent the vast majority of dickheads from getting their hands on one....having said that, if you are determined enough, you can get a gun illegally too...
    • Stevarooni | 3 years ago | +1
To answer your thought, though...yeah, moving to find more-preferred gun laws is certainly an option...until it isn't. >:D
    • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Yes Felix you can bring a gun law to a knife fight. Because no outlaws can get ahold of any kind of knives down under.

  • ryphil | 3 years ago | +4
If recent events in Egypt, and the rest of Africa tell me anything, it's that humans have a penchant for violence, several other countries more so than the U.S. So much so that some of these other countries have banned certain weapons, for fear of what would happen if the average joe could walk in a shop and buy a gun. We are not all gun-toting "Billy the Kid" wannabees in the U.S. I submit to you that we still don't have gun control laws because we are not quite as violent as some other countries and most importantly, it was written into our constitution before we became a nation. We started that way and will most likely stay that way for years to come. It would take some kind of huge revolution to change even that one thing. Sadly I can imagine seeing that change in my lifetime. I personally own two guns, but had to leave them with family in the 'States since I am stationed in a country that does not allow semi-auotomatic weapons without a significant amount of red tape.

If you take guns out the hands of law abiding taxpaying citizens, the only ones left with guns are policemen and criminals. Yall on H666, so you know how that usually turns out! Criminals aren't gonna say, "Guns are illegal, so I will never own one".
    • deleted | 3 years ago | +4
Like all these stupid "gun free zone" signs, like a criminal is gonna walk up to the sign and say "oh shit, this is a gun free zone...better not carry in there" All these stupid guns laws only disarm the law abiding
  • pigeons99 | 3 years ago | +3
In some ways, both sides make valid points. When they are not involved in scaremongering or chest thumping. On one side, TallyHo`s point about handguns is reasonable since, in most cases, your standard handgun has very limited application outside being used against a human being. As opposed to a rifle or shotgun which have wider applications as hunting weapons for example.
On the other hand, for Americans, they have the right to own a firearm so they most likely will, and in some cases, although I am sure many wish it would never be a reality, it can be used for immediate defence of your persons or property or even, to deter a crime totally at the point it seemed to be imminent.
I think the problem lies more in attitudes then anything else. The need to own more guns then one could ever fire seems to make little sense, unless someone enjoys collecting them, but then you stray away from the personal and home defence argument because they no longer become practical items but hobby interests.   However, one may be justified in saying that owning several guns is no different from owning several cars, cleaning them, modifying them and looking after them. Except you would have to accept the reality that a car, although deadly, has its main application outside of causing harm.
I think, like I said it come down to attitude. If owning a firearm was less about what often comes across as`boasting or showing off` and more about just simply having one as if it were any other item for emergencies then I think it would appear more acceptable, and if it were less about owning as many weapons or different types as you could then perhaps those who oppose would have less of an issue. (By this I mean, owning a highly modified assault rifle or a Mini-Gun or projectile launching weapon makes it very difficult to justify any of the strong arguments for home defence or personal protection. All it represents is gun lust gone hyper) .
On the other hand, those who disapprove of firearm ownership, should really understand that, it is a cultural thing for some, and that there are times where it is really justified and valid to own or need a firearm even if it is a handgun or weapon with limited application.
In a round about way, I am saying both sides have some valid arguments, and perhaps a quite strictly limited form of ownership (as we see more of now) is the right path to choose. A middle ground that both sides of the coin could tolerate.

Pigeon - as per usual you make a good read :-)
as we seem to agree on one thing , firearm is like spare-wheel of car (look about i said it already ) - if one does not have a spare or a firearm = nobody really wants to go around getting flats or shooting like Billy the Kid
not have one and you're fucked or dead !
now you choose an odd example to compare "many firearms to many cars "
since we live in a capitalist world - i believe we should follow capitalistic rules ?
how many rich people have left $ billions to their pets ? since it was their own money , who am i to say this is wrong ? if you can afford 2 or 220 cars ? whom am i to say you should not ? with this same logic ; if i can afford 1 firearm or 1 000 000 - who the fuck can stop me ?  you seem to be wanting to play a dual rule system ? if a person can buy 200 houses ;surly they cannot live in all of these ? but it is that persons own money so he/she may do as they want to with it
unless of course you want to change the whole system and we all wear uniforms with a hammer and sickle ?
      • pigeons99 | 3 years ago | +1
No, I am not out to limit anyones freedom. I dont think anyone would pay a blind bit of notice anyway if they intended to buy a large amount of firearms. What I was saying is, once people own a large amount of firearms, They may find it increasingly harder to justify that they are all simply for defence of either themselves or their home. Essentially, it leaves the realm of practical use (like you found yourself by deducting owning several properties is rather pointless in terms of practically (bar people who travel)) and enters the realm of hobby collecting (not that, that is a bad thing in any way). I noted the difference between a car ( or house or any other thing with no intended application to harm) because it is the deadly aspect of firearms which may upset people when the point of practical ownership is crossed into collection or owning of unwieldy firearms like a GPMG for example.
Do you catch my drift? I was not concerned with where people spend their money, but more to the point where the defence argument can be whittled down by owning more then one could probably really ever justify defence as their sole reason for ownership.
        • friendlygarfield | 3 years ago | +1
well my point i am wanting to make clear - hope i do so :-) ?
if i want to buy 100 000 000 cars/houses/shoes or whatever - i need not "justify" this to no one because we are in the capitalistic world
now unless i am a centipede - i could never use all them shoes - how would i justify this ? why should i need to ?
if i want to get a firearm - I HAVE to justify this - why ?
if your view point is because it can cause harm to others ? this falls pointless when thinking of cars,power-tools ,knives etc etc
hell even a swimming pool ,kids toys cause deaths

to your other point - to be able to acquire weapons of "war" {tanks ;rgg , bazookas etc etc } you have my agreement  - but the system allows for this -hence you will find people wanting to buy land mines and stuff that was intended for war and not civilian life = how can this be prevented in a world that allows all other injustices that we have today ?
          • pigeons99 | 3 years ago | +1
Yes you were clear. Don`t worry, I understood. Hopefully I can be clear too. When I say justify, I do not mean the person buying the item has to defend their actions. They are free to do that without suffering scorn from peers (or at least should be). What I mean is justify in the context of this debate. So the person is free to spend their money on the gun, they could buy as many as the law allows, and they dont have to explain that to anyone. BUT! They may have a difficult time convincing anyone (or justifying) that a large number of weapons is only for protection if they were to use the `defence` argument as a reason why they feel the need for people to be armed. So just to be clear, they can buy as they want and that is their right. However if they are discussing this subject and say the large amount of fire arms are for defence, it just becomes increasingly difficult to sell that argument.

I have a use for every gun I have...Ones for long range shooting and hunting..Others for sport, and others for defense...Tubbyho doesn't see things in this light because,he is a cop, doesn't like guns, and believes hunting is for short dicked rednecks who have to prove something by killing their own food, versus buying EVERYTHING from the store...Obviously he is beyond being biased, and continues to believe in false facts and have stupid assumptions out of the highest degree of ignorance...Is his brain no different than shit in a babie's diaper?
    • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Spot on pigeon...It is a cultural thing and a right here..Guns can be investments..Guns can/are collected like anything else people collect..People who do not understand them fear them...But they use knives to prepare their food so it's ok..How many kids in homes die yearly from knife wounds at home?..If someone has a pool, their children are more at risk to drowned in it that those who don't own one..That's the logic tubbyho believes in but won't acknowledge it passed guns... I shoot for sport, fun,and prepare to shoot for self defense...While the pistols and other guns where you guys live must remain at a club, what good does that do me when I need them?..Why should someone have to pay to join a club just to shoot a gun?..What if one has a huge farm, they can't shoot for free on their own land??..I know you understand what I am saying, and I am not arguing with you...Contrary  to what tubbyho thinks, guns are not handed out like candy in the U.S...He can't be rationed with because he is a simpleton..He claims to be a cop...He doesn't believe anyone should be armed, yet doesn't find a problem with those who died would a gun could have saved them...He believes everyone who likes guns are stupid rednecks for calling him out?..His argument turned to shit talking because it's backed up with no logic..He has nothing to argue so he resorts to thinking gun enthusiasts are all worthless morons..How can such a stupid person be created?

I never said half of what you just typed, you once justified your use of guns to protect your daughter from rape and to use in an apocalypse!? And all I ever said was that wasnt a valid reason for owning something which was more likely to kill your daughter! You then Said you use your .44 for hunting and target shooting! Rifles are designed for that and should stored away after (which I'm pro as I own rifles and shotguns) you then made threats to me because i came up with similar facts to the top and said if I was there you would fill me full of lead. This helped me to decide your obviously the kind of idiot who shouldn't own any guns! Especially as you say you own 20 guns and always keep one on you, yet a debate online already lead to death threats I worry for what your like in the real world! I would also like to clarify you also said "America runs the world" to date your funniest comment! If you check through this post (other then you who is too Neanderthal for reasoning) I have had a pretty even debate
        • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Funny you accuse someone of saying something you didn't,then you turn around and do that EXACT THING...You are truly useless as a person...Telling you to "come take my guns" isn't a death threat you moron...Again,someone who owns a pool is more likely to have their kids drowned in it!!..Just because someone owns a gun doesn't make their house instantly unsafe you jackass..That logic applies to knives, glass, bath tubs, ovens, stairs, electrical sockets, and so forth...Argue that you jakcass!..I store my guns at MY HOUSE,NOT AT A CLUB MILES AWAY WHERE THEY ARE USELESS...Mine are locked up except for at night,or when I carry..Does every child know how to crack a safe?..NO!!!!!!!!!!...Damn you're stupid...Read as many posts as you want..You are the only ONE calling me stupid and ARGUING with me...No go through and see how many OTHERS called YOU out,and talked shit calling YOU stupid..Now I know you're dumb as shit because this thread is ANYTHING but EVEN lmao...
          • TallyHo | 3 years ago | +1
Bath tubs and pools have a genuine use - handguns don't! This post and I seem to be getting allot of pluses so it's not exactly one sided! it's just some people get pissy when somone comes up with facts, in a mainly American forum I had the balls to do it and to keep defending what I have said! Yet all you can do is use profanities and throw toys out of your pram... How many times have you singled me out here but still not come up with anything decent to defend yourself! No wonder you need your guns you sure are no man!
            • deleted | 3 years ago | +1
Yes they do you idiot!..I use them weekly..What is the use of a pool?..I have never had the need for one..It's a luxury item for families to play in when it's hot..Whoopy..And people die in them and that's okay to you?..Assbackwards thinkng there...You automatically get one plus everytime you comment jackass...Look at your negs as well..Look at how MANY OTHERS have called YOU stupid..The only one calling ME that is you..You have facts that are biased, false, and outdated...Just because I don't look at them and put down my guns means jackshit..Don't worry about my manhood...When someone needs to save your family I will do it.. God know's how useless you will be to them...

Where i'm from arizona there is also a "stand your ground" which is known as the castle law, in a persons dwelling, car, home, work. You are allowed to shoot on site if you feel threatened but no attack has to actually take place. I'd love to see anyone try to break into my dwelling.

I have concealed carry permit and I live in Florida.. I hear all kinds of stories about the government trying to pass laws that will not permit me to own a firearm. My response is this.. you can come to my house and you can take all of my guns...but you are going to get all of my ammo first!
  • Sylvia | 3 years ago | +3
I see all the high and mighty comments about how your guns are there to protect you and you family against intruders but the fact remains that all (or most!) of you think guns are cool! To me THAT'S the worrying part. You only need to look at ANY gun post on here ... http://www.heaven666.org/very-cool-gun-59979.php to know that most of you own guns because you like them "Cool, I want one" Is the stock response. If you're still not convinced that most see guns as a toy, something fun, something cool then look at any of the multitude of 'Guns & girls' posts! Given that many of you lust after a weapon that can fire 1000 rounds per minute through body armour then it's no surprise to see so many sad gun deaths - and I'm not just talking about USA here, back in Brazil I saw more kids shot then I want to remember

Sylvia I think most of us look at a gun as a tool. A tool that comes with a ton of responsibility. In a perfect world I would love to live without the burden of that responsibility. I have children, I worry about them with firearms in the house, however we live in a world where there is still a mentality that places very little value on life. People and thats giving them too much credit; lets call them animals think that they are entitled to take what is someone elses, and if that means killing my kids, my wife or myself to get those things they have no problem with that, I however do have a problem with it. I live just 10 hours north of mexico in a town just 20 miles away from 2 major roads that come out of southern Texas and crime is on the rise. I have an entire toolbox with tools to fix problems, im not sure that I think my gun is cool, I just think its a very useful tool for a specific job.
      • Sylvia | 3 years ago | +1
There are exceptions and I'm pleased you're one of them; however, like it or not, guys (and many girls) think guns are cool (you even admit to being not sure!) if there was a post of a fantastic unbreakable door lock that made it impossible for anyone to break in then there would be very few 'I want one' comments. Show a gun that was pistol sized yet could spit fire and shoot exploding tracer rounds at 10,000 per minte and everybody and their dog would be wanting one to 'protect their family'. http://www.heaven666.org/guns-and-girls-53458.php show me a comment on there that looks at the gun as a tool!

Sylvia - you maybe 1001% correct on most of what you have said :-) if you look quite a long way up on this post - you will see what i wrote (believe to Tallyho - not sure )
to me and my way of thinking = any firearm i own is like the spare wheel of my car - true enough i can by without -life continues
but when i get a flat and am far away from anywhere i will be fucked
and if anything goes wrong and i have no firearm i will be dead
recall - i truly doubt that there are humans going about eagerly wanting to shoot another just to shoot - no one wants a flat - no one wants to shoot
firearm should be either on your body or locked up in a safe
          • Sylvia | 3 years ago | +1
Not true - in your hypothesis You have a firearm (a spare whell) and I do not. You would therefore assume that I have a MUCH higher chance than you of dying. Do you honestly think that I have a much higher chance of being murdered then you? In UK we have a similar economy and level of poverty yet my chance of being murdered is 1.4 in 100,000. It is 3 times that for USA, why is that?
            • Sylvia | 3 years ago | +1
To continue the analogy if it were illegal to own a spare wheel in UK, then I would have been stuck many a time.

Its easy to think that way until you are faced with that situation. I hope it doesn't happen but you think like a person that has never experienced a situation of violence against you. On new years eve 2008 some lump of shit attempted to break into my home in Racine Wisconsin. They broke my sliding glass door and the window right over my 3 yr old little girls window. I had my glock 21 and thankfully I didnt have to use it. They heard me chamber a round and fled. So think want you want, but you can have my weapon when you pry it from my dead hand. Grow up sylvia the world isnt all puppy dogs and rainbows anymore, that fucking train has left the station!

Sylvia, yes, some people might get guns because they think they are cool..That doesn't mean they don't know how to safely handle them,or that they want to go around shooting people...Yes guns and girls are hot,so are women who pose by cars, and so is anyone hot women who likes to pose in slutty outfits or naked...HELLO,WE ARE MEN!!... And we always want new and crazy stuff, whether its guns, huge televisions, cool boats,whatever...In America people want and need guns ,so we have them..Unfortunetly we have criminals..A gun doesn't have a brain..It's thinking is done by the person holding it...As far as murder rates, I don't know...Countries are different...Compare the murder rate in Cheyenne Wyoming to Los Angeles...And yes, guns are fun..
              • Sylvia | 3 years ago | +1
What exactly are you arguing about? I said guns are not just a tool - they are sexy and fun - a direct contradiction to jajaallen who said that most people see guns as a tool!
              • Sylvia | 3 years ago | +1
You say you want guns and that's fine if you can accept that giving you that choice, to own guns if you want - will mean that there is a much much higher risk of losing your life than in countries where you do not have that choice
                • Stevarooni | 3 years ago | +2
I agree that the risk of getting shot is more likely where guns are readily available, and accept that. The price of any freedom is the risk that it can be abused.
    • southern_aristocrat15 | 3 years ago | +1
Heck yea guns are cool! I've sold thousands of them over the years. That's what I do for a living. I think the U.S. does a good job of tracking firearms and limiting the type of firearms with your respective licenses. I am bias about firearms bc I grew up with them, learned the right way to use them, and hunted with them. Most people who have a lot of firearms go out on the weekends to the gun range and have a lot of safe fun. Although, there are a lot of people who use them for the wrong reasons. With that said, I bet 8 out of 10 of them obtained the firearm illegally. No laws will stop that!

Wow, pretty popular comment subject. My take on this. THis is 100% bullshit anti-gun propoganda. None of these claims have any actual evidence. Seriously who has data on civillian gu ownership in Yemen? or Iraq.
  • deleted | 3 years ago | +2
The problem with guns (and the cause of the next to last stat.) is that like a police officer 'never being around when you need one' odds favor you NOT having access to your gun the 1-2 times in your life when you'll really need it. Especially if you live in a US state that doesn't let you carry it around on your body or in your car fully loaded and ready to fire. It's nice to fantasize that someone's gonna mug you or break into your house and that like a movie star you're gonna save the day. But the reality of it is pretty obvious accd. to the above stats. Of course everyone thinks THEY will be the exception...kinda like lottery ticket purchasers.

he obviously feels the well being of the community is the greater good than our rights. he feels safety is eroding and being unable to help yourself is what he feels is the rx. i have a gun that has been in use for 70 years all it has killed is deer and ground hogs. at the police academy the instructor threw a loaded glock and a 92f, with one in the pipe, on the concrete floor to illustrate safety of our weapons. nothing happened. but then again we were not innocent. what happens if food gets scarce tally how do we shoot a squirrel or deer after you take our guns. this isn't one of those countries where a civil right is food and a place to live. your argument won't ever work here. plain and simple. we would all rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Damn, blew my comment load on one post. Down with gun control!!! Babba Booey, babba Booey, Howard Stern's penis!!!
  • CaptainFlyscratch | 3 years ago | +2
I'm all for owning guns and gun control at the same time. There is no reason you cant have some control; eg mandatory licencing and registration of all weapons, that way if you have one illegally you get punished. I personally have an issue with concealed carry, unless you need it as part of your job. (too many teenagers would carry and hormonal disputes are better settled with fists that guns). But other than that, you should be allowed to own guns. I'm in Australia and I have a licence for a handgun and a rifle. I shoot at the range and on farms/bush. To do this, I have to have a gunsafe in my home with the ammo in a separate lockbox location...not to big of a deal considering that there is little need for it in safe suburban Sydney :)

I am for gun control as well, but there has to be a line drawn between stopping the criminals from being criminals, and punishing masses because of what they "might" do with them...I wouldn't mind guns being registered,as some states already do that..I have no problem with that...We already have backround checks, and I have no problem with that either...I carry daily in part because I can,and because I don't have a cop follow me 24/7...People should be allowed to defend themselves..People who violate the law do so with no regard anyways....Yes,in America it is a culture thing, more than anywhere else...It's sad stupid jackasses like tubbyho and CharlieMurphy believe we are all stupid redneck cowboys because we like guns..Yet most gun crimes happen in inner cities...I may be paranoid because I don't feel safe anywhere...And while some may call me crazy,my family will call me smart when the shit hits the fan...The economy also comes into play with gun laws..Take them away and jobs are gone..Make them too hard to get and jobs are gone and people try to start a revolution...Gun education is the key, along with stiffer penalties for criminals who are convicted of crimes involving guns...Taking away guns is like taking away computers in fear of pirating and child porn...Not everyone does that, and those who do will find a way to get what they want...

I've got to agree with your point that gun education is key.  It's much easier (and more effective) to gun-proof your kids than it is to kid-proof guns.  High schools should be teaching gun safety, at the very least.  I'd prefer gun clubs return to schools, but gun safety, at the very least.

like I said up above, different situations call for different measures. What works for us in Australia, may not work so well in the USA (especially since guns are ingrained so heavily in your culture and constitution). I can walk at midnight to town and back without any fear of being attacked or shot....but in some places in America, I imagine that is not so easy or safe to do.

I could live anywhere in this country and still want to carry...There are many places in America that are perfectly safe..But no one knows their own fate..Places like Detroit are bad,and have serious gun restrictions in place..But these people get them anyhow, mainly through black markets...That shouldn't effect the farmer's rights in Montana though...A gun is just as much a tool as a knife, hammer, shovel etc etc...

see, that is the key cultural difference then....we don't see it as a tool in the mainstream....the farmers do but the majority don't. Like in business, demand rallies support.

the British Government banned hand guns in 96. The Government agreed to buy back all the hand guns from collectors at the market rate for them. As usual they dragged there heels over payments whilst still pressing ahead with the ban. most gun owners had no choice but to sell there collections abroad. It has since come to light that the weapons mostly were then sold oon by continental arms dealers to criminal and terrorist organisations. This effectively took the guns from their lawful owners who were strictly regulated about security and safety into the hands of the 'gangsta' who wants to use it in his next crime. That was a really good idea! p.s. I do live in England and I still believe we are being robbed of our right to defend ourselves even with out guns. Don't even get me started on the lies about knife crime.

In answer to the question of the time taken for Plod to arrive at an active crime scene here is the answer. When calling them to respond to the scrote that is robbing your shed or smashing your cars up, if they say there is no one available to respond then just say that's fine and tell them you'll take care of it. As you put the phone down play the sound of cocking a gun right next to the phone with your voice in the background saying 'they said it's ok to shoot them' or something like that. Sit back and see how any Plod (who weren't available ten seconds ago) arrive.

Heh. There're a lot of jokes like that in the U.S., too. "Call the cops and call a pizza place, see who gets there first while someone's trying to break into your place."

In the U.S., our Supreme Court of the land has determined that the police do not have an actual obligation to protect you; if they fail to protect you even as well as they are readily able, you cannot sue them for that failure.  Fortunately that same court has deemed that one has a fundamental right to self-defense, and that the right to keep and bear arms is a part of that right.

I hope that some day you get your rights back, Yenkl.  After all, English Common Law was the basis for much of American Law and jurisprudence, including the fundamental rights to self-defense and possession of weapons to do so.

My friend, they took away our rights at the end of the first world war when working class people had been trained to kill and the upper class chinless wonders had shown us that they knew f**k all about leading men into battle. Too many normal Tommy's came back form that war with a rifle and ammunition and a bad case of wanting to change the world for the landed gentry to trust them to return to the old ways. they were afraid of revolution at the hands of a well trained and armed enemy and still are.

Yenkl,it's great to see you're not a assclown like tallyho who falls in line with the rest of the sheeple and believes in false info..Since he claims to be a cop,he happily enforces a law that could lead to your death...But he said up above his father has a Luger no one knows about,so I wonder how shitty of a cop he really is...

The stupidest thing is to think that if you take guns away from their LEGAL carriers, that it would lessen crimes involving guns. in Finland its hard to get a gun nowdays LEGALLY, and its easier to get a gun ILLEAGALLY. Most of the crimes involving a gun are done with ILLEAGAL guns. However you turn it, banning guns is not the solution. And America has the right way. You should ALLWAYS be able to protect yourself with whatever means the attacker has.

For the people who think that banning guns would make them really hard to get: Banning drugs in USA worked really well right? And yes, i live in the USA. And its a great country. Dont give your rights away becourse some people think its "COOL" to join a movement they dont understand or have no experience how it would work in the long run.
