Don't think this is possible? Ask a typical American or Brit their opinion of Genghis Khan (or Alexander the Great, or Atilla the Hun) and they probably wouldn't think TOO negatively about them, let alone get offended by dressing up as them. Look at it this way...if you showed up at a Halloween party dressed as Adolph Hitler, you would probably get some negative attention yes? Now instead, dress up as Mao Zedong, and even if they knew who he was, they wouldn't give you the same shit if you dressed up as Hitler...but for a Chinese person affected by the Cultural Revolution, it would be a completely different story.
