  Living in a country that doesn't allow firearms (booo), this is a genuine question - You can see the next 2 chambers are empty, but couldn't the chamber that is level with the gun have a bullet in it?

    Nevermind, just found a video that shows when you pull the trigger, the bullet in the chamber to the right rotates up and is the one fired, not the one already lined up with the barrel. H666 has been educational today!

      Unless of course the hammer is already cocked, in which case the cylinder has already rotated and the gun will fire the bullet that is lined up with the barrel. Also, I think that the cylinders generally turn in the opposite direction of the ones that are visible in the pic.
      
      Best way to not have to worry about these things is to never point a gun at something that you don't intend to kill. People kill; guns don't. Gun 'accidents' are people being dumb.
