Facts 1. Camel spiders top speed - 10 mph. 2. Size: Up to 6 inches 3. They have no venom. 4. They don't jump. 5. Called camel spiders because they live in the desert. They actually aren't spiders at all, they're solpugids.. Along with spiders, they are members of the class Arachnida. reply

Also this picture makes them look huge because there are TWO camel spiders together. Also the guy in the back is standing far away. And they are known to be dangerous, only because they will bite and leaves holes which get infected. reply

It's not fake and they're not really that big! It's a trick of persepective. Look at the sleeve in the top right... that's the guy holding them so these two must be about 4 inches body length.Ugly little buggers though! reply

those are actually average size, i found a few that were the size of dinner plates. If you ever see one move away from it cause it will attack, and they are very fast. reply

Here's the real scoop on this photo. It's actually 4 years old or so. I first saw it on the unfortunately now defunct www.ogrish.com. (Damn I miss that site). The photo was taken in Iraq of some type of desert spiders. They inject numbing venom and suck the juice out of their victim. So if it started "chompin'" on you while you're asleep, you wouldn't know it, because of its novocaine like saliva. In this photo the bottom spider is eating the top one. It is true that the spiders are large, but not as large as this photo makes them seem (distorted zoom perspective) reply

Wrong. They have no venom. The largest to date found was 5 inches. They don't eat flesh, they only bite because scared. They don't attack humans. They love shade, only reason they go near humans in the desert because we make shade. They are not fast, they run about 10 mph. About the same as a human. This photo, they are barely bigger then this guys sleeve. They are harmless unless bitten, since their pincers are so strong they can leave holes in you. In which if not treated they can get infected. reply

my dad has been in Iraq 3 times recently.. tha last time he came home, he had a video that he and his boys made of one of those spiders and a scorpion in a cardboard box.. [i guess they get really bored over there] anyway, they wanted ta see who would "win tha fight". needless ta say, tha spider won but it was awesome ta watch. tha lil scorpion really held his ground! reply

i did two tours iin iraq. no they dont jump. no they dont secrete numbing agents. they ARE huge. the two in this pic are a little smaller than average. ive seen them so big when you step on them you cant get the whole thing under your foot. and they are agressive as hell. they will charge straight at you if you fuck with one. and ten miles an hour doesnt sound fast, but you have to remember, whne its an insect the size of your foot and its running right at you ten miles an hour is fast as fuck!! reply
