If you play dead when a bear attacks. It will want to leave you alone because it will get bored of you. And trust me though, human instinct is to get the fuck out of their... you would want to move if something is attacking you. (Though it can be stupid some times haha) reply

I don't know about trapdoor spiders. But camelspiders are AGGRESSIVE, MEAN, VICIOUS, FOUL and NASTY, can't get enough. reply

No Dx They actually do not attack people or animals larger then themselves unless provoked. Or scared. The only reason people think they are is because they run at people, because they make shade which they love. reply

They call them camel spiders because they eat the stomachs of camels. %u2022 They attach themselves to the under belly of camels and lay eggs under the skin. %u2022 They can traverse desert sand at speeds up to 25 miles per hour, making screaming noises as they run. %u2022 They can jump 4 to 6 feet straight up in the air. %u2022 They will chase you down like a hungry lion. %u2022 If they bite you, the flesh and muscle fall off, leaving a hole. %u2022 They are venomous, and their venom contains a powerful anesthetic that numbs their victims (thus allowing them to gnaw away at living, immobilized animals without being noticed). ..... http://www.washington.edu/burkemuseum/spidermyth/myths/camelspider2.html reply

Actually those are mostly myths. They are called camel spiders because they live in the desert. They are also known as sun spiders or a wind scorpion. They can usually run as fast a humans... and they usually do not attack humans unless they are frightened. Only known to hurt any human if the bite goes untreated because it does leave holes. +2 reply
      • Fseven | 2 years ago
MOSTLY... the screeming would be from whoever there chasing... or the sand is really hot... lol +2 reply
        • Sir Waffles | 2 years ago
True haha. Its funny because they don't chase people. They only move towards them for the shade people make... which freaks them out thinking they are chasing them. I mean all they want is a little shade. +1 reply

The Solifugae, (cemel spider) is a group of arachnids, containing more than 1,000 described species in about 140 genera. The name derives from Latin, and means those that flee from the sun. The order is also known by the names Solpugida, Solpugides, Solpugae, Galeodea and Mycetophorae. Their common names include camel spider, wind scorpion, and sun spider. Solifugae are carnivorous or omnivorous, with most species feeding on termites, darkling beetles, and other small arthropods, although Solifugae have been videotaped consuming larger prey such as lizards. Prey is located with the pedipalps and killed and cut into pieces by the chelicerae. The prey is then liquefied and the liquid ingested through the pharynx. As indicated by their name, Solifugae are mostly nocturnal, and seek shade during the day. It was this behaviour which led coalition soldiers in the 2003 invasion of Iraq to think these arachnids were attacking them. In reality, they were merely moving toward the newly available shade provided by the soldiers' presence. The absence of shade sends them away. reply

Solifugae are the subject of many myths and exaggerations about their size, speed, behavior, appetite, and lethality. In the Middle East, it is widely rumored among American and coalition military forces stationed there that Solifugae will feed on living human flesh. The story goes that the creature will inject some anaesthetizing venom into the exposed skin of its sleeping victim, then feed voraciously, leaving the victim to awaken with a gaping wound. Solifugae, however, do not produce such an anaesthetic, and they do not attack prey larger than themselves unless threatened. Other stories include tales of them leaping into the air, disemboweling camels, eerie hissing and screaming, and running alongside moving humvees; all of these tales are false. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solifugae +1 reply

Its crushing the mouse with its jaws/fangs. Camel spiders are not known to have any type of venom. These things are still vicious as in, they will attack if encountered and scared of things. reply
    • Sir Waffles | 2 years ago
Just learned that their prey is cut up by their strong pincers and liquefied then consumed. So yeah, those pincers are crushing the mouse. reply

The Camel spider killing this mouse is a one time thing really. I think this camel spider was kept without food for awhile, and they dropped a mouse in. Because they usually only eat insects. Or it may have seen it as a threat since it was so abruptly thrown in. reply
  • freeblowjobs | 2 years ago
Yea if it had poison that mouse would have been dead in less than 3minutes reply
    • Sir Waffles | 2 years ago
Exactly, instead though... its slowly being crushed. In which I am sure the mouse would have wanted poison. :D reply

I'd like to see a battle between that camel spider and a mammalian predator of comparable size, such as a least weasel. That would be worth posting; this was just a pointless, cruel execution. +2 reply
