I understand you want to skateboard. But do it on your own property. Or where you have permission. Dont get pissed when you trespass and get you shit kicked in for it.
They are only being like that because they got caught. If the guy didn't have that kids skateboard in his hand the little woodpushers would have ran off with an attitude or insults.
Apparently we have some skateboarders here that like to neg and not show themselves. Probably cause their childish grown men. Or grown boys i shoud saw.
Obviously you have never had fun as a kid. I see no crime in kids skateboarding, but an adult acting like a child and assaulting children... Pretty fucked up. Really guys, "neg away" write comments that don't suck.
He tried to teach these kids a valuable lesson; when you break the rules, you pay the consequences, and you don't get to decide what the consequences will be. I had fun as a child, but I was raised to do so in a way that didn't annoy the fuck out of other people.
Looked like he was being a power tripping douche to me. He did hit one of those kids, and they didn't seem to be disrespectful in anyway to him other than wanting his board back. No excuse for a full grown adult flying off the handle like that. Buy a fucking pad lock for your door if people walking in is such an issue.
The guy did seems to be a dick. Though he may have lots of problems with people getting into his shit. Keeping people chased off is a fucking full time job. When I first started living on and taking care of this farm I had a lot of trouble keeping people off of it. They liked to come out here and party, cook meth, or plant weed. At first I was nice and told them basically "New owner now, I don't want people riding around out here and getting into shit and making a huge mess, or getting hurt on some of the equipment and trying to sue me" That didn't really help much. When I started being a grade A asshole it got a little better. The word gets around.
I see what you're saying about asking nicely not always working... Clearly it didn't work for this kid either. "you can chuck my board over please" I have a short temper too but this man's reaction was just silly, stupid and pathetic. I would have traded the kid his skateboard back from a look at his I.D. You already know what he looks like so once you have his name and address if he ever did come back you could just call the cops and send them directly to the kids door, but that took a bit to much brain power for this guy to think of. In your case since you're on a farm I think all you'd really have to do is have a heart to heart with some of your trespassers with a shotgun in tow. They'll get the message, pretty quickly. Maybe not the best idea for the meth heads though.
Yeah. The meth heads are crazy. They come out here to cook that shit because there are a lot of chemical smells on my land from an oil operation. It's usually a pretty intense deal when we chase them off. Though usually we just find their setup or left over trash and call it in. Though sometimes we actually see them out there. I guess we could wait them out or something, but calling the cops would be worthless, police cruisers can't get back in those areas, and cops don't know how to sneak. I don't like the idea of having to shoot someone, but dammit sometimes I think that would be the easiest way to deal with them.
I had a bad experience with skateboarders once. Me and my gal were playing tennis and there they are. Thinking that a freakin tennis court is the place to skateboard. Since it's a city court there are signs up with rules that it's to be used for tennis only. Well, one of them got hurt and we both liked that. We didn't laugh out loud but it was still some nice poetic justice. So when I see a skateboarder get owned like this, I can't help but be on the side that broke it and kicked him off. The guy who broke it had every right to do that.
The man should have detained them and called the police. The crime of trespassing gets you (depending on your state) a fine and possibly some jail time (depending upon the degree of your trespass). In my state you would get up to 90 days in jail and or pay a fine up to $1,000. That is a much more severe punishment than hitting them with a skateboard and breaking the skateboard. It also involves the parents and forces them to know what their children are doing and hopefully they will prevent them from doing it in the future, unless they like paying fines.
It was wrong for the kids to be there and it was wrong for the security guard to act as he did. We have police and courts for a reason, they are the ones that give punishments for crimes.
The guy could have just shot both of them and dropped them in a dumpster some where then destroy the camera. If you're trespassing, you're trespassing, don't matter if you're a kid just wanting to have fun or whatever the fuck. They didn't belong there, get the fuck out! If you're going to do shit like this and/or break the law, you should be prepared to be dealt with.
I think that you overestimate the leeway a property owner has for trespassing. Someone breaks into your house at night? Yeah, sure, deadly force is understandable, since you don't know the intentions of the invader, and must assume the worst. These kids were trespassing, but they were also sort of cooperative, at least moving toward the exit..at their own, ding-dong pace, but still, that is insufficient to justify deadly force...especially with the extra dash of "obstructing justice" thrown in. :D
I'm not saying that's what he should of done, but what he could've done. Everyone's bitching about how the guy broke the kids skateboard, etc. They got off light. The cops could be pulling their bodies out of a dumpster, not knowing what the hell happened to them.
Concidering alot of kids go skate where there NOT Supposed to and I'm guessing this was one of them spots ya he got off lucky a new deck Is cheaper then a trespassing ticket. Yes the guy over reacted but I bet it was not the first time he had to deal with them turds and that was why he was pissed. Not to mention the kid was all grabby and pushy.
We don't have all the evidence, true. But then we also aren't going to be instituting a sentence upon either party. Until I'm on a jury, I have the right to be judgmental based on half-facts and assumptions. ;-)
I rode a little BMX and had some skater friends and I know the best places to ride or skate are always private property plus the idea of getting caught always upped the fun factor but when you trespass you have to accept the consequences. I'd still rather have my kid (if I actually had one) out skating than sitting inside playing video games.
