He lost his left part of the chest.. he'll be 'all right' now.
    • freakman420 | 11 months ago | +2 -2
I'm not sure but I don't think it's a good thing to see in there.
      • deleted | 11 months ago | +3 -1
Why - the heart's still beating and the lungs are moving, so he's breathing ;)
        • ConnieLynne | 11 months ago | +3
actually he's not breathing.... with the chest open like that, the lungs can't suck in or exhale.
          • endisnear | 11 months ago | +1
agree. thats why his face his pale blue. his brain is trying to make his partial lungs work but it not working.
            • secretsquirrel | 11 months ago | +1
He's in shock. The damage looks like it's been done to the muscle and bone over his lungs.
          • secretsquirrel | 11 months ago | +1
Thanks Doctor Connie. Obviously this man's lungs aren't inflating, which is why you can consistently see them pulsing to the surface. If the lung itself isn't punctured, it inflates (clearly, several dozen times throughout the video) and he's in pretty good shape to survive until he gets medical attention.

yeah i say 50/50 chance at that point in time.
    • leeloo | 11 months ago | +7 -7
he's half the man he used to be ;)
  • ImNotOk | 11 months ago | +6 -1
Damn... That's no way to die. I'm amazed people have the balls to stand and stare. I'm sure I wasn't the only hoping someone would put this man out of his misery.
    • a50 | 11 months ago | +12
That would be a smart move, do him a favour then spend years in jail for murder.
      • ImNotOk | 11 months ago | +3 -1
Isn't that the same method they use with animals ? Yet they don't get punished for it.
        • a50 | 11 months ago | +2 -2
Animals/humans, what's the difference ay? Are for real?
          • a50 | 11 months ago | +1
            You*
            • ImNotOk | 11 months ago | +2
That's why I said it. There's no real difference.

SHADUP!!!! Dude wasn't bad! If anythin,, SHOCK kiltem. No major arteries in that area, survived the "trimming: if they conatined the shock, dude would have completly recovered,, in time! My curiosity, how that happen? Did he get up under a mower at the golf course???
      • bigmekanik | 11 months ago | +8 -1
He most likely suffocated... that was his lung moving in and out... Commonly called a sucking chest wound, every time you try to breathe in, your lung collapses and you fail to get any oxygen into your blood. shock was probably keeping him alive, it is the bodies response to major trauma, and has been known to keep someone alive in extreme cases...
        • secretsquirrel | 11 months ago | +1
A sucking chest wound is a punctured lung, yes, but that's not what you're looking at.
      • freakman420 | 11 months ago | +1
No back story. There was a bull dozer in the clip.
        • treeshaka | 11 months ago | +2
Uh........that's an excavator............or as we call them in the south a trackhoe.........
          • GODnGuns | 11 months ago | +3
They are trackhoes almost everywhere. MR.bigmekanik. I don't know where you got your medical training but I've watched enough TV to know that a sucking chest wound is a problem when the chest cavity fills with trapped air and collapses the lungs. this guy has a hole so big you could see his spine thus his lungs are working. he might bleed out but hes getting air.

            [image]both wrong it's a end loader
            • treeshaka | 11 months ago | +2
I stand corrected, after further review, it is indeed a front end loader, but a CAT......that one looks like a Volvo..........
              • freakman420 | 11 months ago | +1
We both got corrected. all the same that one shitty way to go.

Thank you. Now I don't have to chime in. Oops, now I don't have to look for a picture.
      • TheLatentImage | 11 months ago | +2 -1
My guess is that he was riding a moped and hit the big outer tooth on the bucket of the excavator. Passing a car on the left perhaps. Purely speculation of course.

At least his injury is stopping people staring at his mole.
  • Wagingwetard | 11 months ago | +2
Well his lungs still worked good.. which is amazing in its own right.. I figured after his chest had a hole that big his diaphragm wouldn't work..
  • Jimb0slice | 11 months ago | +2
That's one he'll of a poker face considering everyone is staring at the inside of your chest cavity. I bet when he put them boots on that morning he felt invincible o.O
  • ithurtalot | 11 months ago | +3 -1
Something isn't right. The lung expands as the ribs move out and the diaphragm contracts moving down. Nothing "pulls" on the lung directly. Nothing forces air into the lungs. With a hole like that, there is nothing to cause the lungs to swell-shrink-swell.

The image is too grainy and shaky to be sure, but I think the heart is contracting and pushing the collapsed lung material "up and out" of the hole. The lung is not actually filling with air - it is just getting pushed by the heart's contraction.
    • Whadafuk4 | 11 months ago | +5
Well, look at his mouth the lungs expand when he breathes in and relax when he breathes out.... His ribs and bone surrounding (thorax) the lungs are still intact. So, nothing is wrong with the video. His breathing was shallow, because he was in shock. There is still the pressure difference(inside his ribcage), so his lung function was as normal as it could be. The injury is just fuckin' weird. You'd expect more trauma to his heart (more bleeding and almost certain sudden death), but there was little to none. The is the most non-superficial superficial (Epithelial/skin layers were solely impacted) injury I have ever laid my eyes upon. If he got medical attention quick enough his injuries could be taken care of. I question the likelihood of that considering the fucking dirt road though. He'd definitely bleed out before anything else... The human body is fuckin' amazing!

I hope the ass hat taking the filming used his phone to call the medics BEFORE whipping his phone out to video it.
      • ithurtalot | 11 months ago | +1
Do you think it looks like the tissue is intact? I ask because it looks to me like there is no tissue sealing out the ambient air from the thoracic cavity. If there were, you couldn't see the color of the lung. If it isn't (which I believe since I can see the lung tissue directly), then there is no way to have negative pressure. Bones have nothing to do with it.
        • Whadafuk4 | 11 months ago | +1
Bones DO have something to do with it... They were the ONLY reason he could breathe at all, but I was simply stating it was a adipose tissue injury. He seemingly had no damage to his major organs. It also helped that the entirety of the lung/thoracic cavity wasn't exposed. We could only see one full lobe. You have to realize the ambient air did negatively effect his lung function, but did not totally negate the negative pressure that did exist. Had that been the case he would have been gasping and his lungs would have been noticeably collapsed and he would have likely died DURING this vid.
          • ithurtalot | 11 months ago | +1
You don't seem to understand how the lungs work in terms of negative pressure. Nothing MAKES the lungs increase in volume directly. Your diagram contracts making it straighter. Your intercostals muscles contract pulling your ribs up. This increases the SIZE of your chest cavity. So, the pressure drops. The lungs spread out into that lower pressure area. The lungs suck air into them since they then have a decreased pressure due to an increase in size. That's the inhalation part of respiration. Now, cut what is obviously a rather large hole into the thoracic cavity. It doesn't matter if the ribs are damaged or not. When those muscles contract, air rushes between the ribs (since it is the path of least resistance) so negative pressure doesn't build up. this means the lungs don't expand.

Unless you see a way that the thorac cavity IS still sealed tight as a new Trojan, then I say the laws of physics imply that there is something wrong with the video or the lung is being pushed by the heart whe nno
            • Whadafuk4 | 11 months ago | +1
Yes... You would think his lungs would be collapsed, but they are not. The lungs are actually pushing up on his heart. Your knowledge of how the respiratory system is great, but the human body does amazing things. People have lived with having half their brain blown off. You should believe your eyes. He's not gasping for air. His lungs are not collapsed. Yet you seem to deny what you are seeing. He SHOULD be gasping and struggling to breathe, but his PNS (parasympathetic nervous system) took over. I am simply trying to wrap my head around what I see just like you are.

I'm not sure but I am sure it hurt a lot

Shit like this is fucked. The guy is clearly very close to death and no one is kneeling down and talking to him. He just wants someone to lie to him and say he'll be alright...

    It's just a flesh wound.
