most likely high performance cars with engines tuned to insane peaks, particularly the F430 built for being on a track not a freeway, they wernt specifically designed for mid range speed, like say on your car, you'd put it into 5th or 6th gear, and maybe get to a 100mph foot down, with these cars, in 6th theyll go all the wya up to 200mph , so because theres no mid range drive gear, they'd use 4th or 5th, and keep the revs low, overtime the engine will just heat up cuz the revs are too low to keep the throttle at a constant balance, so on a long journey itll just get hot enough to find something flammable and p00f +11 reply

Look closely folks. NOT an accident. Two seperate incidents. And before you ASSUME that the fire started as a result of a fault with the vehicle, the majority of car fires are caused by the drivers, and/or passengers. And sorry Quasimoto, but your explanation is........well........lets's just say.........a wee bit off. +6 reply Actually the R8 fire was caused by a leaking high pressure fuel hose, and the F430 fire was a faulty oil line seal, so just human error not mechanical. +2 reply

erm, a mid engine means the engine is more infornt of the rear wheels. hence that word they use... MID.... then u get rear engined cars... which are called REAR. where the engin is sittin more or less on and behind the REAR wheels. Yes, these are both Mid engined cars. but, for example a porsche 911 = a rear engined car.. theres plenty more, but thats how i roll. reply

OK that was funny but have you ever seen a Delorean. Robust is not the word for this stainless steel atrocity. i work in motor claims, if i saw anything like these 2 incidents i would love it, normally it's pensioners reversing into their bloody gateposts or junior manager's running into horses and stuff. yanidez american cars are not great either, perhaps heir less likely to catch fire (although i don't know what you're basing that on) but try to turn corners and you'd be out performed by most European sports cars. reply damn i can't spell today. reply
