India is the dirtiest country I have ever been to. I have heard people say that Pakistan, which is to the west and Bangladesh, to the east, are worse, but that is probably beyond the limits of my imagination.Puri is a tourist hot spot on the east coast, where heaven and hell come together. One side of town is the hotel area, with its picturesque beaches, the other side is a poor fishing village. The inhabitants’ straw huts are lonely
islands in a sea of trash, and I got the feeling that it’s never taken away. The most shocking thing: every villager would defecate on the beach. It wasn’t only villagers who would take a crap on the beach, out in the suburbs you’d get used to seeing people doing it on the side of the road, and the Indian men would do it out in the open, never
sneaking off to a secluded spot in the undergrowth.

India is very dry, and vegetation scarce. Sometimes you’ll sweep your eyes over the horizon and only see a barren expanse. Rural villagers use firewood, but like using cow
dung more. In cities and towns, sacred cows fill the streets, defecating wherever they please. Cow dung is the most eco-friendly kindling of all, and this means less trees need to be cut down. Moreover if the manure that is produced is not removed daily, a small town would probably quickly drown in it

And people cry about their local tap-water
    • Pookybear | 1 year ago | +4 -4
typically in developed countries, tap water is very regulated to contain the least amount of pathogens making it safe... where as bottled water there are no regulations on it and thus can be more harmful than tap water
      • bobster | 1 year ago | +5 -1
Lies, my family owns and runs a water purification and bottling business and I can assure there are way more regulations on bottled water than on tap water. Inspectors pop in all the time.

I'm going based off canadian standards, in canada there are no regulations on bottled water, where as tap water has one of the strictest regulations around

  • Drummerer | 1 year ago | +2
My tap water is filled with as much chlorine as my swimming pool. I'll stick to drinking bottled water.
    • JustAHumanBean | 1 year ago | +1
You do know that many bottled water sources are just their tap water.
  • friendlygarfield | 1 year ago | +2
although i cannot nor will ever claim to state India been a "clean" place - has you mentioned there are other places I have been to as well that turns our world upside down - who is most dirtiest is an opinion - however - with the population India has - it's different "casts /classes " into which they divide themselves into = it will take many more years (centuries ) before they may ever reach a "european" standard of living :-) ( this said without meaning to insult )
    • CaptainFlyscratch | 1 year ago | +2 -1
FG - every country has it's ups and downs. South Africa has townships that are filthy, America has Ghettos. There are pristine areas in India too...but everyone seems to focus on the Ganges and their immediate surrounds....when you have lots of poverty and homelessness, that portion of the population WILL gather around the waterways...it is the way of things. It is not this way in all parts of India...just remember that and as for "European Standards"...that in itself is a very broad statement as not all areas of Europe are pristine either.
      • SavageTiger | 1 year ago | +2
With all do respect captain. Faith trumps common sense when it comes to the Ganges. Would you drink?
    • Wagingwetard | 1 year ago | +1 -1
I wipe my ass with euros..;) if those economic problems over don't straighten up toilet paper will be worth more..
  • Cigarmann | 1 year ago | +2
Combination of traditional beliefs along with the reality that much of this world still does not have proper sanitary treatment of waste. This all equals cool fodder for pictures of gross stuff!
  • typeR | 1 year ago | +2
A murderer could just throw all his bodies in there and get away with it.
    • Schitzengiggles | 1 year ago | +1
OK, can someone answer that? Why do they put dead bodies in the Ganges?
      • Schitzengiggles | 1 year ago | +2
A Hindu belief is that dropping the ashes of cremated bodies at the Manikarnika Ghat in the Ganges would give Liberation to the soul. Consequently, a large number of semi-cremated dead bodies are left in the Ganges at the Manikarnika Ghat.
        • Wagingwetard | 1 year ago | +2
Another fun fact about India.. don't shake hands with them using your left hand, if you don't know why I'll give you a hint.. why do you think all that shit was there without toilet paper?
          • CaptainFlyscratch | 1 year ago | +2
It is a country with over a billion people. You don't honestly believe that this post is representative of all of India, do you? They have modern civilised and wealthy areas to. They even have toilet paper! Don't fall in with the ignoramouses bro. BTW that was a fun myth, not fact.
            • Wagingwetard | 1 year ago | +3
Look, I'm not being derogatory to their culture over the butt wiping thing, if I wanted to shit on them about something I would pick their still existing caste system or their child exploitation problems.. it is just something I have been informed that they do.. have you been there?
              • CaptainFlyscratch | 1 year ago | +1
yes. My mother and her entire family are Indian from India. I am very familiar with and have a deep understanding of the culture. The caste system is largely redundant. It is now more like poor/middle/rich now. But remember that their culture is ancient and has stood the test of time, right or wrong.

because the live ones won't cooperate?
      • uploaded | 1 year ago | +1
This may be wrong , In the earlier days they burned the body first then dumped the ashes, now with a lack of fire wood they have to float them out. Dried cow shit is a main source of fuel for fires

thats pretty sad...and they bring those ugly habits to the U.S... if it wasnt because we have laws...cant imagine how filthy the country would be...hindus dont shower and they never clean the toilets...i highly recommend not eating any food that they handle...i used to work with one owner and he would serve expired potato salads and drop turkey meat on the floor and just clean up and sliced it to the public...so sad
    • CaptainFlyscratch | 1 year ago | +3
That was the most ignorant comment on this thread, possibly ever. Pig ignorant and bigotted. Did you know that more ghan 50% of ghe fortune 500 companies in the world are run by these "filthy Hindus"? You have blanket judged all Hindus because of this one post? That is the sad part. My mum is @a Hindu. My grandfather too. My mum is a senior manager at Qantas and my grandad is an air traffic controller and an ex airman in the RAF. Both are obviously filthy and without laws, are country destroyers, right? Learn about them before you pass judgement....save your hate for radical Islam..that is the real curse.
      • Bobthebutcher | 1 year ago | +2
Fuck you captain fly shit. Your a son of a stinky curry filled whore. What the fuck has islam got to do with it. This is the most ignorant comment on this thread. And you call your self a good Aussie. We dont want SHIT like you in our country so fuck off back to India you half black piece of infected feces
  • deleted | 1 year ago | +2
Why the hell are they all starving if they have fresh meat washing up on the river bank every day?
  • captaink | 1 year ago | +2
someone ought to tell them that they have this new invention for dealing with shit and dead people, it's called a shovel!
  • enc0gnito | 1 year ago | +2
Why don't they at least bury their own shit? Even a damn animal knows to do that with their feces.
  • TMcNasty | 1 year ago | +2
Man if any country needs to adopt the blow job as birth control it is India!
