  100% NOT TRUE retard. The human brain can go for approx 4-5 mins without oxygen before irreversible brain damage will occur. How do you think people the drown end up surviving with little or no after effects? Grab your books Ronjen, I'll talk you to school.

    Why are you calling him a retard, dude. Sleeper hold has nothing to do with someone surviving drowning. If you use too much force, you can cause a fracture of the larynx or the hyoid bone. You don't need 4-5 mins without oxygen to die or suffer brain injury. Choke hold causes hypoxia by compressing the airway, which sensitizes the heart to arrhytmia. If there is too much pressure on the cartoid sinus, meaning if there is too much pressure on the neck, it can lead to a dangerous drop in arterial blood pressure. There is also the risk of catecholamines, which are released during the struggle, and which, together with hypoxia & bradycardia produced by the stimulation of cartoid sinus, may result in fatal cardiac arrhytmia. There is a reason why the police stopped using this technique.

      All i can say, is being a sleeper hold, he isn't actually "in my opinion" going to have damage to his throat, as its not a choke it's a strangle ( I do Judo and have done for almost 13 years now so i know the difference ). I'm not disputing the medical facts of you OP, but when you cut off the blood supply it's different to cutting off the airway, in the instance your on about crushing the throat is going to do some serious damage, but the oxygen still gets to the brain, worst he does is piss himself when he's unconcious... My opinion is based on strangling and being strangled far too many times than i care to remember and there has been no lasting affects on anyone i know, or to myself so far... it seems a little too unfair for someone to let the kid go that far if he has some sort of "ability" to implement a sleeper hold correctly though... i'd have stopped it after the head punches and the kids inability to defend himself..
