    i once read that many years ago, before text books and well documented excursions into the unknown, people would come across giant komodo dragons and think they were modern dragons or dinosaurs...

    Great footage of the hunt.BTW,it is now known that komodos are venomous.

    Their bite terrible on three separate levels: 1. Incredibly sharp teeth - razor sharp. They tear chunks of flesh from living prey. These are the largest lizards extant on Earth. 2. Bacteria - including E. coli and Staphylococcus. 3. Venom - Ronjen54's right about that. It's been proven many varanids are venomous, as are many snakes thought to be non-venomous.
