perhaps we all think "what the fuck ! i do not go around shooting rhino or even live in Africa ! so this is not my worry "
well i cannot fault half of those thoughts , but if we all do not talk and make a noise about it - them whom do want these rhino horns will object to this way of handling poachers - yes one was shot dead (in shootout ) 2 were caught - now please tell me i am wrong in saying that "water boarding " (as viewed as correct by some in US military) should be used to find out whom was behind all this - these fuckers with the guns - yes are guilty - but are mealy the pawns

If it were not for the fact that those fucking Asian fucks will pay big money for them it wouldn't be a problem...I am with you, these poachers should be shot on sight and anyone caught dealing or buying the horns should be treated the same way..

I completely agree that there is a high demand for this but, it is not only asians paying for the horns and such from these beautiful animals. There are many people from the US and other countries that pay big money to be able to go out there and illegally hunt them. I believe hunting is perfectly fine if you plan on eating it.

I have never heard of anyone from the US paying to illegally hunt Rhinos. The Rhino poaching is all locals, because they are poor and they get paid well to supply the horns to the Asian market.

I am sure there are plenty of things that happen in the US that many don't know about. Hunting big game is not always about the black market. As I said some do it simply for sport.

Sport? What kind of sport is hunting a fucking rhino. Rhinos stand out in the middle of the field. It would be like me going out hunting cattle.

Illegal hunting is poaching. Poaching is NOT hunting. All animals that are hunted have the meat given to the locals, so it is eaten. These poachers are local people, not fly-in hunters, and they are given about a pound of rice for each animal brought in. Its either poach animals, sift dirt looking for diamonds, or fight in some little dictators army.
Not defending the poachers by any means, but some need to learn the difference between Hunters and poachers, as most hunters would probably shoot a poacher.............

Okay, let me clarify myself ONCE again. I did not say these douchebags that got caught were hunters. I am saying that it's not ONLY them that are killing these animals. There are some fly-in "hunters" that are illegally killing these animals and they're not doing it for money or to get as you said a bag of rice.

              Im suspicious of that...................

that's a load of shit. The guys who pay to hunt do so legally and it is top dollar. As for the pound of rice that's also a load of shit, poachers will get paid cash. Why would they poach a rhino for rice if they could poach a buck and have meat?

It is not just rhinos that are under assault, bear, tiger, and other animal body part are used herbal medicine from Asia. The belief that comsuming parts of the animal will provide the strength of the animal is at the root of the demand. The market for the product is at the source of the issue.
By all means go after the poachers, but something has to eliminate the demand.
    • DoubleO | 1 year ago | +2
Education would eliminate the demand to a certain extent. I agree that there are some that insist on keeping with tradition but their stupidity and persistence will soon make those traditions impossible.

I find it horrible to hunt protected species especially for something so trivial as a horn/tusk.
