  Kershaw knives are good quality, but I would recommend that anyone wanting a fine hunting/fighting knife get an older Western Knife Co. model W36, or a model W49 if you need a larger Bowie. They're the best knives available for a reasonable price that you'll ever find. They were made from 52100 tool steel, and they'll take and keep a real razor edge. Older Buck model 119's and 120's are very serviceable, too.

    I prefer a fold carpet knife now, interchangeable blades and only $5 at the hardware store. I have an old Buck that I keep oiled in it's case, (they rust like crazy) and know what you mean about good steel but until the Zombie Apocolypse I'll continue to be a consumer of cheap Chinese junk.
