You are showing a common mis-perception and lack of understanding about basic firearms. 1. automatic firearms are already illegal here and have been for many years. Only the military and law enforcement are allowed fully automatic weapons or machine guns. A fully automatic weapon discharges multiple projectiles with one pull of the trigger. The rifles that average citizens can purchase and possess are semi-automatic (yes, even the civilian AK-47) and can only discharge one projectile for each pull of the trigger. The same capability by the way, that the "six-shooter revolver" that you okayed has! Referring to these guns as "assault rifles or assault weapons" is a mis-leading propaganda tactic used by the anti-gunners (all of whom think its okay for THEM to own such weapons or have armed security) so that mis-guided, un-informed and gullible people such as yourself will rally to their cause without actually understanding the actual issue.

Exactly how the Party members would see it back in the day.

That's pretty awesome. You see sudden flurries of activity as the USSR and States test at the same time. Although I had no idea so many tests were conducted. I note with some irony that while the Yanks tested some in their backyard, they preferred to do it in ours - and the French tested theirs in Africa of course. Thanks for the link mate. reply

Keep fighting the good fight, my man... We're outnumbered by the brainwashed vets on this site and the negs fly faster than the plusses arrive, but at the end of the day, the points you raise are worth reading. I find it amazing how so many people that got a paycheck from the military try to convince themselves that what they were part of was the greatest thing there is and that any of us that shuns the war machine is ungrateful. reply

Thanks mate. It is disheartening to see the negs sometimes, but that comes with the territory. At least I'm putting my view forward, and hopefully some people may begin to see the other side of the coin, or at least view the military/foreign intervention in a different light.

As for ex military, there aren't any surprises there, really. I guess the indoctrination starts pretty early and is absorbed progressively throughout their career - an exception being Ed Herman.

Hope you're well, keep up the good work too! reply

Champ. Yeah I haven't been on as much lately as before and haven't found much to comment on. I mostly just browse these days. Good to hear from you though. And yes! I'm sure our WW2 airplanes are being kitted out as we speak hahahahahaha. I am glad though that the US is there, believe it or not. Without that who knows what old Kim Jong Un would do. Quite scary really. reply

Meh, if we weren't there someone else would be.. its kinda sad.. we Jong Un took over our state department had high hopes that he would be different than the old man.. Bill Richardson(our lead NK diplomat) immediately went over and made contact with him and the press on him was pretty positive.. I was hoping he would be different than the old man.. unfortunately it doesn't appear that he is.. :( I feel bad for his people.. its bad enough they had sooo many starve at that famine they had, but now they are being led to believe that we are basically trying to annex them.. they don't even know what may soon hit them.. :( reply
