The fact is that I used to care about the condition of people a lot, but it left me enraged that so many people could be so stupid, but they seemed happy being oblivious to what was around them. This is where I am, I have decided to try to not care as much, so far it really isn't working, but at the same time I do feel less stress and anger at giving less thought to what is going on around me.

No no, FG shouldn't stop especially if he's brightening someone's day, I'm just stating about how paranoid and mistrusting people in the states have become in this day and age. (and rightly so sadly) You could do that in the small town I grew up in, everyone was more trusting. Anything bigger than a 1k population though and you risk a woman pulling out a can of pepper spray.
