When I was 8, I was sitting on the front porch watching the neighbors argue back and forth from one side of their duplex to the other. then the guy goes in and gets a knife, and the other goes in and get s a gun and he starts shooting. But then he just starts shooting at everyone and he turns the gun toward us and shoots and hits the wall right above my head, I thought I was going to be shot for sure. I remember thinking "I wonder if it will hurt" and mom comes out and starts dragging me in the house screaming at him. Cops come and take him away. he shot the ear lobe off the other guys daughter. another inch and my friend woulda been gone.

Not as hard as it has been. We allow other people to make our lives harder. We shouldn't but we do.

known drug pusher? dressed like one? breaking into a gated community? Everything I've read says trayvon struck first, hitting Zimmerman. He hit him in the head with something, that he didn't have on him later. Why start with fists if he wasn't doing something wrong?

I'm sorry if someone starts beating on you in your neighborhood, then you can shoot them in my book.

Is it sad if this young man (not kid at 17), was killed for taking a shortcut (If that is all it was)? Sure, but he did everything to start it. Zimmerman was just trying to protect him and his as near as it looks without being on site to see the evidence. If he had turned and walked away or waited on the cops for his $25 trespassing ticket he might be alive.

Was Zimmerman buying his drugs and the deal went bad? we will never know.

War against whom? War requires the other side to be identifiable in some way. How do you tell a bad Iraqi from a good one? (Prior to the IED detonation)

http://rand.org/pubs/research_briefs/…

This explains my stance far better. Our military may make some things about Iraq better, better roads, water, etc. but it will not stop the terrorists.

TristusNamVitae replied to Iraqvet's comment on Iraq-Will it ever be okay?

Unless all the news articles are blatantly lying (and that is not beyond imagination) then the new system we have put in doesn't appear to be a lasting one. The 'very few' people I have met from the region just say that the Taiban comes around every once in a while and simply say "The Americans will get tired and go home, and we will be back in power." Their own new military where it is ok to rape the female soldiers? bribery, etc seem the norm. Even the leaders they 'elect' are closer to Sadaam's way than anything else.

I always care about our soldiers. When I was a Christian, I prayed every day for ours soldiers to return home safe with missions completed. I still feel that way, I just no longer pray. My studies in Military Science, combined with looking back at Korea, Vietnam suggest a gun barrel doesn't change how a person thinks, only how they act for a brief time.

Why are they not now an ally, if it is working? Because they hate us, and want to kill us.

TristusNamVitae replied to Iraqvet's comment on Iraq-Will it ever be okay?

Just like Vietnam, the military is not a tool for giving peace (unless you mean for the military to kill every last one of them, that would bring peace to the region). The military is a tool for 'ending people'. There is no 'soft' way to bully someone into the behavior you want. Our govt may never learn that lesson.

TristusNamVitae commented on hardparty69's How do theists explain suffering

From a bible/Christian point of view (that I used to hold) god 'allows' pain/suffering to happen/exist because man has committed sin. So the bible teaches that god created the world perfect without sin, man created sin, man brought all this on himself and one day in the future god will do away with sin/pain/suffering. and that is the carrot that is dangled in front of you to keep you plodding in the direction that religion wants you to go.

He should go down for murder. The 'thin-skull rule' applies here,"The thin-skull rule, which is a long-standing principle of tort law, provides that a wrongdoer must take his victim as he finds him. Thus, the fact that a victim’s head injuries are aggravated beyond what would normally be expected because of the victim’s unusually thin skull does not relieve a TortFeasor of liability for the full extent of the harm that resulted from his wrongdoing.

“The thin-skull rule is a good and useful principle. It requires aggressors, once embarked on their dangerous course of conduct which may foreseeably injure others, to take responsibility for all the consequences that ensue, even to death.”

This is why you don't just punch people.

When stopped by highway patrol or police, but NOT Border Patrol, they have the right to see your drivers license as proof pretty much any time. They are supposed to have a reason to pull you over, but the average american breaks a traffic law nearly every mile of driving. Never consent to a search without a warrant, since even attorney's don't always know all of the illegal things locally. Seeing "Your Papers" is a grey area. SCOTUS said that being within 50 miles of the US Border is probable cause for immigration check. etc. These guys are funny how far they push it though.
