I agree...A bottle of Jack Daniels is as dangerous as any Smith&Wesson gun...When buying alcohol all one has to do is show proof of age,sometimes...Then they are trusted to follow the law..Should be the same with guns...I agree that drunk drivers who kill people should spend more than a few years in jail...There was a drunk hit and run here involving a woman hitting a 15 year old girl a bit back...Killed her...3 DUI's in the 80's and 11 traffic offenses since...Only 2 of the 7 year sentence are mandatory...Her drivers license will be revoked for life,and she paid a settlement to the family..I agree the penalties should be much stiffer..

Hell no. The problem with drunk driving is the penalties for actually killing someone are not enforced hard enough. You kill someone drunk driving it should be murder 1. Not manslaughter. If you have a couple of drinks and have to go somewhere you would definitely think twice about driving if you knew you might spend the rest of your life in jail. I know plenty of people that own guns and get drunk but I've never seen them randomly fire the gun in public. Its the same thing as driving drunk, but the punishment would far harsher.
