![]() | isgrimnur replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? The more laws, the less justice. Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws. When you declares so many things to be a crime it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. In a society where everybody's guilty one crime or another, the only crime is getting caught. When laws become unenforceable you breed contempt. There are not enough jails, police or courts to enforce such a laws. More government isn't the solution. 20% of the population admits to drinking and driving. No doubt it is a problem. The budget for jails and prisons is somewhere close to $60 billion. America accounts for 5% of the world population and we house 25% of the worlds inmate population. Necessity is the seed of innovation. Solution to societies problems isn't in solving them. It is in preventing them. | 1 month ago
![]() | Isgrimnur replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? Computers used to be insainly expensive. Now every 3 year old has an iPad. Google car is just proving a concept. I would rather car companies invest in automated autos than electric cars. With fewer accidents auto insurance would go down. Driving doesn't take that much skill. Some the dumbest people I know have licenses. There are robotic cross country car races in the desert. Universities all over are creating new technologies to deal with the different situations that a vehicle will encounter. This isn't a unbuilt concept based on sci-fi. It is being tested and without a doubt will be mainstream. They are already figuring out how to retrofit existing vehicles with this technology. Took a war to free slaves so that technology that would have freed slaves could go mainstream. | 1 month ago
![]() | Isgrimnur replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? A breathalyzer may prevent them from that particular car... The issue still exists. Drunk guy needs to get home. The solution I brought up I think solved this issue and keeps drunks from driving. It isn't as far off as you may think. They have cars that park themselves. | 1 month ago
![]() | Isgrimnur replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? The issue is... People drink and drive inebriated. A breathalyzer may stop some from driving. Intoxicated people have irratic behavior their inhibitions are lowered. They tend to do things that they otherwise wouldn't do sober. So you mandate that all new vehicles have breathalyzers what is gonna happen? All alcoholics will drive older vehicles. Some will find ways to bypass the system. ![]() | Isgrimnur replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? I drink responsibly as does my wife. The concept of a bar is a meeting place. Alcohol allows otherwise shy people the ability to talk and converse with others. Either one of us will have a few drinks the other will drive. There are other people that can not drink without getting drunk and probably shouldn't drink. The answer to this problem isn't a breathalyzer. It is a bandaid on a cancer sore. What differentiates responsible drinkers from chronic inebriates? Education? Chemical? Social? Psychological? Hundreds of different variables. Everyone is different. Why not make cars smart enough to drive ourselves and remove the human conundrum. The technology is available and is proven. Google has proved it many times. | 2 months ago
![]() | DrunkenPiano replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? Generally, the right thing to do is extremely unpopular and I doubt that this'll happen anytime soon. People will bitch and moan about their rights and freedoms when it really is not a big deal to have to exhale into a hose for your car to start. | 2 months ago
![]() | corndogg replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? A little story sorta related. a few years ago there was a guy who was headed down the road after leaving a bar early in the morning. As he is approaching an intersection while having a green light a woman headed to work pulls out in front of the guy and gets T-boned and is killed. The female driver is at-fault for the wreck happening but because the male was over the legal limit he is charged with vehicular homicide. Had he not been drunk nothing wouldn't have happened to him. I personally feel he shouldn't have been charge for her death, the wreck being her fault, but I do think he should have been given a DUI. | 2 months ago

![]() | Iraqvet replied to kittyripper's comment on Ignition interlock breathalyzer standard on cars? ![]() | CaptainFlyscratch replied to kittyripper's comment on Jesus... one more point, you should not worship anyone or anything. You should strive to be like someone or follow the values of something......you do not worship Buddha, you strive to live your life like his. Same applies to Jesus. No one worships Ganghi either, but that man is inspirational. His concept of passive resistance was not unique or new either, but he managed to change the world. If you cannot change the world at large like these fine men, then you take their principals and you change your own world. If enough of us do it, then the world will become a better place. Believe what you want, I will not judge you or disrespect your views.....likewise, you should not judge or belittle others views, just because they do not mesh with your own. | 9 months ago
![]() | CaptainFlyscratch replied to kittyripper's comment on Jesus... the "fool" comment was not aimed at you as you do not believe the magic, and neither do I. You have the choice to believe what you wish and I am just advising that when making decisions about religion, do not focus on the rhetoric or the bullshit, look for the message. That is all my argument has always been. By looking for the real messages of peace, love, harmony and betterment, you will see the true purpose of religion, not the hijacked, nefarious, chest thumping, divisionist farce they have become today. | 9 months ago
![]() | CaptainFlyscratch replied to kittyripper's comment on Jesus... so, all the Roman historical data including the death entry of Jesus and his crusifixion by the then Roman leader Pontius Pilate, all the gospels according to other people, all the Islamic references to Jesus, all the Jewish references to Jesus and all the non-religious texts that he appears in from that period are all false then? He existed as a man. The stories around him were written by Romans (the new testamnet was written by Romans to consolidate the religions of the day and to get control over the rapidly growing "Christ"ian faith at the time). | 9 months ago
![]() | camp89 replied to kittyripper's comment on Jesus... Check Pliny the Younger or Julius Africanus for facts of a person of interest who stirred the people. | 9 months ago
![]() | CaptainFlyscratch replied to kittyripper's comment on Jesus... hey kitty, Jesus actually existed. He was a real person. I think this is funny, but I resent that some folk have no understanding of the man that they are mocking and trivialising. The fucktards that are doing bad shit in his name are responsible for the bad name religion gets, not Jesus himself. His life was not a miraculous series of events as the bible falsely claims, but he was a wise man with a big heart and a dream of a peaceful future for al humans. Nothing wrong with wanting to be like that is there? | 9 months ago
